RIBBON SKIRT WORKSHOP
Make your own Ribbon Skirt in this 2-day workshop with Shauna McAllister (Cree-Métis), of AlbertaVista Creations.
Ribbon skirts and their teachings have been around for generations. Traditionally worn by Indigenous women across Turtle Island to special occasions or ceremonies. Today, there is a movement to wear your ribbons skirts any day, anywhere.
For Indigenous peoples, the Ribbon Skirt represents our own personal reclamation. It represents reclaiming identity, and wearing that identity proudly.
—from The Ribbon Skirt Project

To be respectful of the history and cultural importance of ribbon skirts, they should only be made and worn by Indigenous Peoples. If you are non-Indigenous please take this into consideration. Find more info in this thoughtful and nuanced article by Jennifer Francis for CBC News.
